A Pair of Regency Period Mahogany Bookcases
English, circa 1810.
An unusual and highly attractive pair of early 19th-century mahogany bookcases, each constructed with three graduated tiers. The tiers feature elegant arched recessed fronts, framed by distinctive half-round reeded uprights, showcasing the refined craftsmanship typical of the Regency period.
Each bookcase retains its original side carrying handles and stand on a shaped plinth base. The tiers are fitted with hinged fronts, secured by internal catches, offering both functionality and a pleasing architectural rhythm.
Note, lovely original surface and timber.
These bookcases were almost certainly designed as campaign furniture.
