An excellent example of an early Georgian giltwood and gesso mirror, distinguished by its richly detailed carving and elegant proportions. The finely executed frame displays the craftsmanship and decorative sophistication characteristic of the George I period.

Mirrors of this type — often referred to as girandoles when fitted with candle arms — played an important role in enhancing and amplifying candlelight within grand interiors of the early 18th century.
