A PAIR OF LATE 18TH CENTURY SATINWOOD KNIFE BOXeS

A pair of George III satinwood knife boxes, crossbanded, checker-strung and inlaid with marquetry. Each is of elegant arc-en-arbalète form with sloping fronts. The fronts feature oval shell patera decoration and twin faux pilaster moulded inlay, flanking central oval silver pierced and shield-shaped lock escutcheons engraved with armorial crests. The marks, appear to date to 1791.
