A REGENCY PERIOD ROSEWOOD CENTRE TABLE

Attributed to Banting, France & Co.

England , circa 1820.

A very fine and elegant early 19th century Regency period brass inlayed rosewood centre, breakfast or dining table. The circular top veneered in particularly well figured rosewood with a lovely original patina. The triform base with turned central support, raised on wonderful cast gilt metal feet with the original casters.

Banting, France & Co were Royal cabinetmakers and held Royal Warrants in the reigns of George III, George IV & William IV.

Note: A rosewood corner cupboard with identical scrolling brass inlay was supplied to George IV for the ambitious rebuilding program at Windsor Castle in the 1820's. See Illustrations below.

The construction of this table is of the highest standard and has survived in wonderful original condition. The rosewood has never been over polished or restored and retains a lovely surface.
